Santa Monica Mountains Fund, the official partner nonprofit at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, is hosting a free narrowleaf milkweed giveaway! This giveaway is made possible through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF).
Narrowleaf milkweed is a gorgeous native plant that serves as a host for monarch butterflies to lay their eggs. Monarch caterpillars feed exclusively on milkweed leaves. Help us restore the monarch butterfly population by picking up and caring for your own milkweed plants.
We will be giving away free narrowleaf milkweed at the S.O.W. Collective Backyard Farm in Arleta on September 28 from 10AM-1PM. Six plants per household will be given out to ensure hungry monarch caterpillars have enough to eat.
